I discovered these pieces through a Colombian artisan and was drawn to the wood itself. Ojo de pájaro, or bird's eye wood, develops a distinctive grain pattern of small swirling eyes that form under specific growing conditions scientists still don't fully understand. The pattern is rare enough that trees must be cut to reveal whether the wood contains it.
