These decorative boxes are crafted from ojo de pájaro (bird's eye wood), its rare grain pattern of small, swirling eyes enhanced by a striking black and ivory finish. Available in small and large sizes that stack beautifully or stand alone, each piece is unique in its natural figuring, a pattern so uncommon that trees must be felled to discover if the wood contains it. Perfect for storing small objects, displaying on a console, or simply as sculptural accents.

Pamela's notes
I discovered these pieces through a Colombian artisan and was drawn to the wood itself. Ojo de pájaro, or bird's eye wood, develops a distinctive grain pattern of small swirling eyes that form under specific growing conditions scientists still don't fully understand. The pattern is rare enough that trees must be cut to reveal whether the wood contains it.
The black and ivory finish makes the natural figuring even more dramatic, transforming each swirl and eye into a study in contrast.
