I was drawn to Diane's work the moment I saw her pieces at a design show, the hand-hammered stainless steel catching light in the most beautiful way. What sets her collections apart is the thoughtful marriage of materials: she uses only 18/10 stainless steel, the highest quality grade prized for its durability and lustrous finish, paired with genuine stingray shagreen handles that feel substantial and luxurious in hand.
Shagreen has such a rich history, favored by French aristocracy in the 18th century and then experiencing a renaissance during the Art Deco era. There's something about its distinctive texture and natural variation that appeals to those who appreciate materials with character and provenance. The shagreen Diane sources comes from fishing communities in Thailand and Myanmar, where it's a byproduct of sustainable net fishing, the skins preserved and tanned into the striking material you see on these pieces.
I have both the beverage bucket with the ice scoop and one of her trays, which I use constantly for serving drinks and appetizers.
